Sanskar and family ceremonies
Namkaran, annaprashan, mundan, griha pravesh: the household's own people and its own custom.
Several of the sixteen sanskars now take the shape of a family gathering. Relatives come for the naming, sweets are shared at the first feeding, and a new threshold is honoured at griha pravesh. The celebration can remain. So can the meaning: which resolve it is, and the form your family keeps.
Pratishthaan keeps a general introduction on these pages. Help with the gathering is for the house that cannot yet tell the rite from the feast. In the request, write the name of the sanskar, the city, and the shakha. Confirm the muhurat with your acharya.
This is a general introduction. Sequence, materials, and timing change with family, region, and shakha. Your priest and your own custom have the last word.
